Well, now I can tell you how old Saabs are in Norway when they are handed over to the dismantler.
The national statistics bureau Statistics Norway has published a statistics which tells us how old several car brands are when the cars are dismantled.
According to this statistics, Saabs wrecked during 2010 were 19.7 years old when they were wrecked. Comparable figures for Audi and BMW were 19 years and 19.1 years respectively. Volvo and Mercedes Benz cars were a bit older with 22 and 22.2 years. The average age for all car brands was 18.4 years. In other words, a Saab lasted longer than the average car and a few months longer than Audi and BMW, but a few years shorter than Volvo and Mercedes. But all these figures are based on historical data and does not say anything about how long a new Saab of today will last.
The cars that lasted the shortest time were Kia and Skoda with only 12.9 years. But I guess both Kia and Skoda owners of today can look forward to more years as the quality of those brands has improved recent years.
