Yesterday GM told the world that it had decided that it will revoke all technology agreements with Saab if the company is sold to Chinese Youngman and PangDa, and so today it is back to square one for Saab and the Chinese.
Yesterday was a setback, but if you have been following Saab for some time you will know that there has been many setbacks. And each and every time Saab has come back. Remember 19 December 2009, when GM decided to end discussions with Spyker Cars for the sale of Saab and to close down Saab for good? A couple of days later the negotiations for a sale was back on track.
So there is no reason to give up. One thing that is certain is that Victor Muller does not give up. And that is why Saab and Victor Muller once again are in discussions with the Chinese. Now to redesign the deal so that GM will not object. And at the same time it must be a deal that China's National Development and Reform Commission can accept. Is that possible?
